So I bought myself a drone based on a few reviews online the DJI Mini 2 made the most sense for a complete beginner. Had I not required 4K I’d have gone for the original DJI Mavic Mini for about £50 less. Getting set up did take a bit longer than expected due to the lack of charge in the drone batteries. I’m impressed with a lot of things on the drone and after a few uses there are so many user friendly attributes. I skipped it in the video but there is a walkthrough on the app which lets you practice using the drone in a slower, less sensitive mode. I love how the footage and photos are saved immediately to your phone, for the video this is available in 1080p then for the 4K footage you can retrieve from the memory card. You can set the height and distance limits for the drone while flying. The legal limit for height (without special permission) is 120m and the drone is already set to conform to this. The distance the drone can travel (away from control) is up to 10km so I’ve kept mine set to 2km although according to the CAA flyer test you have to pass you should only fly the drone by looking at it and not through the screen. Therefore if the drone is out of sight this is illegal? The images are beautiful and smooth, I’ve no prior experience with a gimbal (the part the camera hangs on) and I’m amazed how it works to not rock back and forth while the drone moves in every direction.
